How many Welsh cakes can you fit in a Renault Twizy?

Have you ever wonder what is like to drive a French electric car  made in Spain in the beautiful Welsh countryside? Wonder no more!  The guys @ecofunkytravel have  solved that problem by creating something really cool – a network of electric cars, that you can hire for a day or more and explore the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. How cool is to drive an Renault Twizy?

Last Saturday we hopped on board of my beloved 99 Renault Megane and went to Wales to check out what the future of electric vehicles has to offer. We hired ours form Castle Narrowboats in Gilwern and headed out for a mini road trip around the countryside 🙂

First stop of the journey was Welsh Venison Center where we loaded our funky Twizy with some food to keep us going through the day (It’s not like there is a lot of space when you put two grown ups a backpack and bag full with goodies in the Twizy, but who cares about the space when you have Lambo Doors 🙂

Next stop was Llangorse Lake for a quick snack, change of drivers and a few pictures in between

One hour or so later we reached Brecon and it was time for the Twizy to recharge and for us to go around the town for a wander and do the shopping

What actually you can fit in a Twizy? Well – two grown up kids, a backpack and bag full of Welsh cakes will fit just alright and when you have Welsh cakes on board who actually needs anything else 🙂

Zooming with and whooping average speed of 23mph we headed  out to Talybont Reservoir for further exploration of Brecon Beacons and Welsh country side

One of the added bonuses of test driving electric car in Wales is that you can break the journey at anytime with a short waterfall walk. I don’t think you can’t get that offer in any dealership

On the way back to Gilwern we stopped at a nice pub along the road just in the right time to catch the last sunshine and have a pint of quality Cornish lager

The Verdict:

If you happen to be in Brecon Beacons National park and wonder how to explore it an unusual and fun way – just get a Twizzy, enjoy the ride and don’t forget to charge it :)!
